The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India has authorised the responsibility of conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) to the National Testing Agency (NTA) from the year 2019 onwards.
JEE Main consists of two papers:
Paper 1-
- Conducted for admission to UG programme (BE/BTech) at NITs, IIITs, other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments.
- Acts as an eligibility test for JEE(Advanced) which is conducted for admission to IITs.
Paper 2-
- Conducted for admission to B.Arch and B.Planning courses in the Country.
For the Academic Session 2023-24, JEE (Main)- 2023 will be conducted in two sessions; Session 1 (January 2023) and Session 2 (April 2023). Session 1 schedule is mentioned below:

- JEE (Main) - 2023 will be conducted in 13 languages i.e, English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
- In the First Session of JEE (Main) - 2023, only session 1 will be visible and candidates can opt for that session.
- In the next Session, Session 2 will be visible and the candidates can opt for that session.
- Application window for Session 2 will be reopened as per the details available in the Information Bulletin and will also be notified separately through a public notice.

*For Paper 1 and Part-1 of Paper 2, each subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple- Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any 05 questions out of 10. There will be a negative marking for both Section A and Section B. |
Instructions to be adhered:
- Candidates can apply for JEE (Main) - 2023 through the “ Online” mode only through the website https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/. The Application form in any other mode will not be accepted.
- Only a single application is to be submitted by a candidate. Under any circumstances, candidates will not be allowed to fill more than one application form. Strict action will be taken, even at a later stage against those candidates who have filled multiple (more than one) application forms.
- Candidates must strictly follow the instructions given in the Information Bulletin and on the NTA website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified.
- Candidates must ensure that the email address and mobile number submitted in the Online Application form are their own or Parents/Guardians only as all information/ communication will be sent by NTA to the registered email address and SMS on the registered mobile number only.
