The department of PU education has decided to allow aided and permanently unaided colleges to increase I PU intake from 80 to 100 students for academic year 2022-23. The decision was taken to accommodate the additional application forms received by the increased number of students. Till the previous academic year, the private and unaided PU colleges were able to give admission up to 80 students per section in each combination, but from this academic year 2022-23 it will be 100. The department has given permission to the private and unaided colleges to intake 100 students for I PUC.

The officials further clarified that to get permission for intake of 100 students, the unaided colleges must approach deputy directors of pre-university education and submit proposals depending upon the demand for a particular combination offered by the college. The officials further stated that the approvals will be provided based on infrastructure, faculty-student ratio and smooth functioning of the combination in the college in the past. In case of rural areas, the aided college managements can submit the proposals to DDPUE for additional intake.

The officials further clarified that such students will not be eligible for any aid from the government and will be considered as unaided students.
