Radiology is a consultant-led speciality and radiologists are responsible for reporting most imaging procedures and performing most interventional procedures. The MBBS students who join for MD Radiologists are known as Radiologists.
The radiologists are doctors who use images to diagnose, treat and manage medical conditions and diseases. The radiologists work with the team of radiographers in hospitals and nursing homes.

No candidate shall be admitted to any post graduate degree / diploma course unless the candidate has obtained and produced the eligibility certificate issued by the University.

Admission Process:

Candidates seeking admission to MD should mandatorily qualify NEET-PG Exam. The NEET qualified students are required to undergo two types of counselling. 

1.The students seeking admission to medical colleges affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) should undergo the counselling conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).

2.The students seeking admission to deemed universities should undergo counselling conducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

Career Scope of MD Radiology Medicine

Radiology is gaining a lot of importance in recent years. The last decade saw a great demand for Radiologists. The radiologists are required in maternity hospitals, cancer hospitals, trauma care centres etc. At the starting of their career they will be working with a team of radiographers. As they gain experience, they will become independent radiologists and will be leading a team of radiographers.
The MD Radiology students can also join medical colleges as assistant professors. As assistant professors they take classes related to radiology. They can also be appointed as head of radiology departments based on their expertise and experience. Sometimes they may even become Dean, Chairman or Vice President for any medical college.

They are responsible to report the observations on the development of the baby in the womb. they perform regular scans according to the directions of the physicians.

Oncological Radiologists: The Oncological Radiologists are basically hired in cancer care centres and hospitals. They are responsible to detect the cancerous tissues in the cancer patients and report the observations to the specialists. They are also responsible to give radiotherapy for the cancer patients to destroy tumours.

Salary & Emoluments: An average Oncological Radiologist will be earning around 15 lakhs to 25 lakhs per annum.
