It covers the theory and practical aspects of modern DNA technology, toxicology, analytical techniques, and clinical diagnosis. Candidates are taught the techniques to collect evidence, label samples, store and preserve evidence, keep a record of evidence, analyze and detect abnormalities using scientific techniques, make conclusions and inferences, and prepare reports on findings.
The Chemistry curriculum emphasizes on the theory and practical aspects of the fundamentals of chemistry and includes theories and concepts of atomic structure, chemical bonding, thermodynamics, coordination chemistry, quantum mechanics, spectroscopy, and chemical analysis. Important topics include general and physical chemistry, inorganic and organic chemistry, biochemistry, electrochemistry, structure and function of polymers, and chemistry of synthetic drugs.
The Genetics curriculum focuses on the application of biotechnology and microbiology in genes, expression of genes, genetic variation, gene pool, structure and function of genes, and heredity of animals, plants, and human beings. Topics related to molecular structure and function of genes, gene behavior, genetic dominance, epigenetics, inheritance, gene distribution, and variation and change in populations are covered during the course.
