The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts Common Management Admissions Test (CMAT) exam every year for management admissions in all the AICTE approved colleges and Universities across the country. The CMAT exam is conducted every year and students have to qualify this exam to get admission to different management courses in different AICTE approved colleges and universities across the country. 

What is NTA?

National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established as a premier, specialist, autonomous and self-sustained testing organization by the Government of India to conduct various entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions. The NTA is the sole governing body under the Ministry of HRD Government of India for conducting CMAT exams across the country.

What is the CMAT Exam?

The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a National Level Entrance Examination for admission to Management Programmes in the offered by different colleges across the country. This test facilitates AICTE affiliated participating Institutions to select suitable graduate candidates for admission to the Management Courses in such Institutions.

CMAT-2021 will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) as a three-hour entrance examination in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode to evaluate the candidates’ ability across various segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness, for admission to the Management Courses every year. 

The participating Institutes of CMAT-2021 will be accepting the CMAT Scores for awarding admissions to different management courses. The aspiring students have to take the CMAT test online in the designated exam centres across the country and qualify the same.

Why the CMAT Exam?

CMAT exam is the popular entrance exam after the CAT exam. The CAT exam is considered as one of the toughest entrance exams for management courses. The CAT exam is basically conducted by IIMs across the country while the CMAT entrance exam for management admissions in the country is conducted by NTA. The MBA aspirants are required to qualify the CMAT exam in order to get admission to merit seats of management courses. Every college has a specified number of seats under merit quota. The students applying for the merit quota are required to qualify the CMAT exam. 

Eligibility for CMAT Exam

The aspiring students who have completed their degree in any stream with 50% aggregate marks from the recognised university are eligible to apply for CMAT exam.  The candidates who are in the final year of bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply to the CMAT exam. The minimum age criteria required for applying for the CMAT exam is 21 years.

Age Limit and No of Attempts for CMAT Exam

There is no upper age limit for the CMAT exam and there is no restriction on the number of attempts for CMAT exam.

Application for CMAT Exam

The students are required to fill the online form with the correct details and pay the fees online. Once the form is filled and the fees are paid the students are required to take the printout of the form and the fee receipt should be for future reference. The students will receive a unique username and password on their registered email and mobile number, and the students have to keep them for future reference. The students in order to download admit cards have to login with their unique username and password for downloading the admit card.

Exam Pattern and Mode of Exam

The CMAT exam is a computer based online test. The CMAT exam paper will have 100 multiple choice questions (MCQs), that consists of five major sections of:

  • Quantitative Techniques
  • General Awareness
  • English Comprehension
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Data Interpretation

The CMAT exam is an online computer-based mode examination and the students have to give the CMAT test in their designated examination centres that is printed on their admit cards.  

  • The total time allotted for the exam is 3 hours
  • The exam is Computer based online test that is to be given in the designated exam centres
  • The question paper type of exam will be MCQ and the students are required to choose the correct answer from the 4 alternatives.

The students interested to take the CMAT exam are required to apply online for the exam on the official website. The students should carefully fill the online form without any mistakes.  Further, the students are requested to keep the filled form for their future reference. 

The students can pay the fees both offline and online. Once the payment is done the students will get a unique username and password on their registered email ID. The students should save these details carefully. Once the hall tickets are available the students should login to their account with the given user’s name and password to download the hall tickets.
