What is B.Sc Operation Theatre Technology?
The B.Sc Operation Theatre Technology course is a 3-year undergraduate programme that can be chosen soon after the completion of the PUC/12th or equivalent. The students who are interested to join this course should have studied any of the three subjects from the following Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Zoology, Botany in their PUC/12th or equivalent. They are responsible to read and record the readings that are displayed on the machines during the surgery and do the required adjustments instantly according to the requirements of the patients under the direction of the surgeons. The operation theatre technologists are trained to handle the patients in the operation theatre and also required to observe the complete functionality of the operation theatre. The B.Sc operation theatre technology students should possess high-skill and alertness; they help the doctors during operations with surgical instruments, they are necessary to take care of the medications, anaesthetic gases, curtains, sterilization measures throughout the surgery.
Their primary role is to assist the surgeons, specialists, anaesthesiologists and nurses. They are mainly responsible for maintaining the decorum and the ethics of the operation theatre in the hospitals.
