What is Sports Management?
Sport Management involves the combination of skills related to planning, organising, directing, controlling, budgeting, feeding and evaluating within the context of an organisation or department and primary product or service is related to sport or physical activity.
The sport managers are responsible to carry out their skills in a variety of organisational settings like college sports, professional sports, amateur sports and even Olympics. They are required in sport marketing and management firms and they are also hired as personal sport managers by many sport celebrities.
Few lines about PGDM Sports Management
The PGDM Sports Management is a 2-years full-time postgraduate course that is divided into 4-semesters. The course is designed to inculcate in candidates the understanding of business ethics and marketing skills to make them proficient in the field. The course follows a holistic approach to develop in students the required skills like analytical skills and decision making.
The course makes the students competent with skills to work in a highly competitive industry of sports. The course trains the students on various aspects like branding, sports organisations, celebrity sports, etc. The course trains the students to ensure the safe and timely and well-resourced management of sports entities.
Eligibility
The students interested to join PGDM Sports Management course are required to possess the following eligibility criteria.
- The candidate should have passed Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% aggregate (or equivalent) from a recognized University
- Qualification in any of the competitive management entrance examinations CAT/MAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/SNAP/NMAT/PGCET/KMAT is mandatory
- The students having more than one year of work experience is an added advantage
Admission Procedures
The students can take admission to PGDM (Sports Management) by two modes. The first one is merit-based admission and second one is direct admission.
Merit Based Admission
The students interested in merit-based admission for PGDM (Sports Management) course are required to appear for entrance exams conducted at national and international levels. The students have to appear and qualify these entrance exams in order to get merit admission to the PGDM course.
