Management Quota Admission For MDS In Karnataka

Management Quota Admission

Management Quota Admission was started to popularize professional courses where the administration of private colleges reserved the right to allocate available seats to students on the basis of their Merit and performance in competitive entrance examinations. This quota is applicable only for private colleges and doesn't extend to government colleges.

Management Quota Admission is available to the candidate after the following counselling processes:

The three main types of counselling processes are -

  • Centralized Counselling for All India Quota Seats

  • State Counselling - KEA Counselling (for Karnataka Counselling)

  • MCC Counselling

To get Management Quota Admissions a candidate must participate in all the government counselling sessions including the Mop Up Round. (Mop Up round is the only stage for getting admission under the Management Quota)

After the mop up round if any Vacant seats are available the seats are returned to the college to fill them.

NOTE: No Management Quota Admission happens before or during the counselling process - Management Quota seats are provided ONLY if the college has vacant seats at the End of the government counselling. No Management Quota admissions are provided without the Eligibility Criteria.

Introduction

Dental problems among people are increasing at an exponential rate. There are various reasons for this – lifestyle change, poor dental hygiene, less knowledge about precautionary measures, etc. Students with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) undergraduate degree can apply for Master’s courses in various colleges in Karnataka.

Dental education and teaching in India are monitored by the Dental Council of India (DCI). The dental colleges in Karnataka not only provide holistic development of the individual but also help in promoting dental habits which are required to be maintained by each and every one. The candidates can apply for the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) to gain more knowledge and apply it in their practical life and help in assisting and guiding others. The Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) course helps applicants to acquire more knowledge about dental issues and provide help to the people who suffer from dental problems.

NOTE: The percentile will be determined on the basis of highest marks secured in the All-India common merit list in NEET for post-graduate courses

Candidates are selected for the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) course based on the above criteria.

Is the NEET-PG Entrance Exam necessary?

Yes, if you want to get into a Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) course, then you need to attempt and qualify in the – NEET PG Exam for Master of Dental Surgery (MDS). The seats for the MDS colleges are limited BUT the number of students for the same is very high in number. Due to this reason, an entrance exam is conducted for admission of deserving students to the colleges.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Post Graduate (NEET-PG) is a national level offline pen and paper examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) for postgraduate medical professional courses in Government and private medical and Dental colleges in India. The NEET-PG examination is also compulsory for Indian students who want to pursue their MD/MS/MDS degree abroad. The NBE ensures that the test is conducted efficiently, in a transparent method, and by international standards. After completing the test, candidates should check for their names in the All India Rank Merit List.

The exam is very competitive and tough. This is because lakhs of students appear for the examination but there are very limited seats. In addition, a very high score is required to pass and qualify in the examination. This ensures that all the deserving, good, and hard-working students get an opportunity for admission into the colleges.

Here is the eligibility criteria list for you to check.

  • A student needs to have a valid Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) graduation certificate from the Dental college

  • The Dental college that has provided the certificate to the students should be recognized by the Dental Council of India
