MDS Admission Process in Karnataka

The Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) is a postgraduate course in the field of dental health and hygiene. The course has a duration of 3 years. There are around 48 dental colleges in Karnataka that offer the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) course.

The course curriculum is aimed at providing advanced academic training for the dental students who want to broaden their understanding of oral and dental sciences. There are many specializations that provide a thorough understanding of the dental procedures and provide hands-on experience about oral treatment and oral medicine. The MDS students can study about diverse topics during the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) course.

Eligibility Criteria for MDS

  • A student needs to have a valid Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) graduation certificate from the Dental college

  • The Dental college that has provided the certificate to the students should be recognized by the Dental Council of India

  • The student should score at least 50% marks in the final year of BDS graduation exams

  • The student should not have any type of backlogs before appearing for entrance exams

  • The student has to appear for the NEET- MDS (PG) entrance exam and score very good marks in the NEET- MDS (PG) entrance exam so that they can be eligible for Management Quota Admission

  • It is mandatory that the student passes and qualifies in the NEET MDS examination

 

Eligibility Criteria for NEED MDS Exam

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) is a national level offline pen and paper examination conducted by the NBE for MDS courses in Government and private medical colleges in India. The NEET MDS examination is also compulsory for Indian students who want to pursue their Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) degree abroad.

The NEET MDS Examination is conducted for Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) courses in seats in Government colleges, central Universities, private institutes, and deemed universities in India.

The minimum eligibility and qualifying percentile for different categories:

  • The candidates should have a minimum of 50% marks in their BDS degree

  • The candidates should have a minimum of 45% marks in their BDS degree for candidates who are physically handicapped

  • The candidates should have a minimum of 40% marks in their BDS degree for reserved category (SC/ST/OBC)

 

Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) Counselling Process

This is a Merit Counselling process for the students seeking admission to government and private medical colleges affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) in Karnataka. Through the NEET Karnataka State Counselling, seats in medical colleges of Karnataka are allotted to the NEET MDS qualified candidates:

  •  85% of the State Quota seats in Karnataka are filled through the NEET Karnataka State Counselling

  • 15% of the All India Quota seats are filled by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC)

 

Selection Method

  • Candidates must have qualified in NEET MDS Exam

  • The qualifying candidates must appear in the KEA/MCC Counseling process.

  • On the basis of the rank scored by the candidates, they will be allowed to appear in the 15% and 85% quota counseling.

  • The medical authority of the state is designated to conduct the counseling process for the 85% state quota seats.

  • Candidates have an opportunity to choose colleges according to their individual preferences during the counseling round

  • For the seat allotment process, it is obligatory for every candidate to participate in the counseling rounds.

  • Reporting to the allocated college and submission of the admission fee will confirm the seats of candidates.

  • If the document of any candidate is found inadequate the college has the full authority to call off the admission of the candidate.

 

Admission Procedure in Karnataka

Admissions for the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in Karnataka dental colleges are based on the NEET MDS Entrance Examination results followed by KEA/MCC Counselling rounds. The appearance of the candidate in the entrance exam and participation in the counseling process is compulsory. Candidates will be allotted the seats as per the All India Merit List and Rank obtained by them in the examination.

Some steps that are mandatory for Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) admission:

  • The NTA releases a notification about NEET MDS Exam

  • Students should apply for the NEET MDS Exam with their genuine details and information on the NTA website

  • The exam dates are declared by NTA

  • The exam pattern and structure are provided by the NTA through notifications and updates

  • Students have to attempt NEET MDS medical entrance examination

  • The result is announced on the mentioned date

  • Students have to apply for KEA/MCC Counselling

  • For State Counselling, students from Karnataka can register with KEA

  • For Central Counselling, students in India can register with MCC

  • After the Counselling Sessions are the allotment of colleges and fees payments

  • Complete college reporting formalities

  • Report to the college when the academic year begins

  • Class 12 (or equivalent) Marks Card and Passing Certificate

  • Intermediate Marks Card and Passing Certificate

  • Study Certificate countersigned by the concerned BEO/DDPI

  • Character/Conduct Certificate

  • Domicile of Origin Certificate

  • Parent’s Income Certificate obtained from concerned Tahasildar

  • Rural Study Certificate countersigned by the concerned BEO and verification certificate (for GM candidates)

  • Proof of Reservation Category - Caste Certificate/Caste Income Certificate/Income Certificate/Minority Certificate obtained from the concerned Tahasildar

  • Parent’s Certificates - Study Certificate, Hometown Certificate, Domicile Certificate, Employment Certificate, Cumulative Record

  • Identity Card issued by the Jurisdictional Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate/Rehabilitation Commissioner

  • Medical Certificate (for PwD Candidates)

  • Two recent passport size Photographs

  • NEET MDS Examination Admit Card

  • NEET MDS Examination Rank

If parent has domicile from Karnataka but students has studied only for 5 years in Karnataka, then during counseling which caste community will the student belong,. But i have community certificate from TN not from Karnataka
