Management Quota Admission

Management Quota Admission was started to popularize professional courses where the administration of private colleges reserved the right to allocate available seats to students on the basis of their Merit and performance in competitive entrance examinations. This quota is applicable only for private colleges and doesn't extend to government colleges.

Management Quota Admission is available to the candidate after the following counselling processes:

The three main types of counselling processes are - 

  • Centralized Counselling for All India Quota Seats

  • State Counselling - KEA Counselling (for Karnataka Counselling)

  • MCC Counselling

To get Management Quota Admissions a candidate must participate in all the government counselling sessions including the Mop Up Round. (Mop Up round is the only stage for getting admission under the Management Quota)

After the mop up round if any Vacant seats are available the seats are returned to the college to fill them.

NOTE: No Management Quota Admission happens before or during the counselling process - Management Quota seats are provided ONLY if the college has vacant seats at the End of the government counselling. No Management Quota admissions are provided without the Eligibility Criteria.

Eligibility

According to the regulations of the 2017 Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) Course, the eligibility criteria for MDS courses are:

  • The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Dental Surgery (BDS) awarded by recognized university in India and which has a registration of State Dental Council.

  •  The candidate must also have a registration from the State Dental Council with permanent or provisional registrations and has undergone one-year compulsory internship from any acknowledged dental college or any hospital.

  • Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have completed their Medical Education from outside India have to qualify in the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by NBE and have to complete their compulsory internship

  • Any candidate who has completed their Bachelor's degree in Dental Surgery (BDS) course from an institution outside the country, should compulsorily submit a permanent registration certificate

  • Any candidate who has completed their Bachelor's degree in Dental Surgery (BDS) course from an institution outside the country and within the country, both should have completed a one-year internship and should submit the internship completion certificate

  • The candidate must clear the NEET MDS (PG) entrance exam and secure the below percentile:

For General Category: 50th Percentile

For Person with Disability: 45th Percentile

For Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes Category: 40th Percentile 

NOTE: The percentile will be determined on the basis of highest marks secured in the All-India common merit list in NEET for post-graduate courses

Candidates are selected for the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) course based on the above criteria.

Is the NEET-PG Entrance Exam necessary?

Yes, if you want to get into a Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) course, then you need to attempt and qualify in the – NEET PG Exam for Master of Dental Surgery (MDS). The seats for the MDS colleges are limited BUT the number of students for the same is very high in number. Due to this reason, an entrance exam is conducted for admission of deserving students to the colleges.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Post Graduate (NEET-PG) is a national level offline pen and paper examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) for postgraduate medical professional courses in Government and private medical and Dental colleges in India. The NEET-PG examination is also compulsory for Indian students who want to pursue their MD/MS/MDS degree abroad. The NBE ensures that the test is conducted efficiently, in a transparent method, and by international standards. After completing the test, candidates should check for their names in the All India Rank Merit List.

In addition, a very high score is required to pass and qualify in the examination.   • A student needs to have a valid Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) graduation certificate from the Dental college

  • The Dental college that has provided the certificate to the students should be recognized by the Dental Council of India

  • The student should score at least 50% marks in the final year of BDS graduation exams

  • The student should not have any type of backlogs before appearing for entrance exams

  • The student has to appear for the NEET- MDS (PG) entrance exam and score very good marks in the NEET- MDS (PG) entrance exam so that they can be eligible for Management Quota Admission 

  • It is mandatory that the student passes and qualifies in NEET examination
